The Friends Activities
In addition to general litter picking and tidying up jobs to keep the park looking cared for, the group has raised a considerable amount of money and carried out a number of projects over the last two years. Money raised has come from The Big Lottery and Action Earth, SMBC and in particular Cheadle Area Committee.

Projects
Projects have included:
- Clearing and protecting the pond.
- Planting in excess of 2,000 native bulbs.
- Donating two picnic benches and two new benches around the pond.
- A new interpretation board aimed at attracting children's interest
- A new notice board
- Paying for the re-furbishment of all the benches in the park
- Paying for the renewal of the path around the pond
- Enhancing the Roscoe's entrance with new plants
- Successfully opposing the proposed cycle path
We work in conjunction with SMBC, in particular with the team from Bruntwood Park. Group members have attended Risk Assessment Training so that we can carry out certain jobs without having to call on SMBC staff to be present. Our Secretary has qualified as a Tree Warden.
Future projects include:
- Getting our web site up and running
- Shoring up the railway end of the pond to improve its water retentive qualities and its appearance and planting native, water loving plants
- A new interpretation board about the importance of the wetlands
- Clearing and enhancing the stream and repairing the bridges
- Clearing and maintaining the waterfall
